Why a day at home isn't a day off...

I am exhausted even more so today than on a work day, after all a mom never gets a day off, right? I got up and before I even showered I started cleaning. Even though I got an early start, it never got done. I vacuumed and swept the upstairs floors, wiped the counters at least three times, did dishes twice, changed 4 loads of laundry (which makes a ton of trips up and down the stairs), changed my sheets, put covers on Brooklyn's bed, watched a few toonies with Boky, shoveled the driveway, bathed Brooklyn twice, made dinner, and now I am here blogging! I did manage to get a few fun pictures of Brooklyn today. She is such a character. Her latest favorite outfit is her birthday suit... don't mind the pictures (not only is she in the nude, but they aren't in order because I'm too lazy to put them that way.)

She was "hiding" by the fridge

AH! She found me hiding in the kitchen...

She is super fast at running away from me when I want her to smile for the camera.

She had to wear "daddy's hat"

This is her "diaper bag" I guess she doesn't understand it's a back pack yet.

The cheesiest picture of the day!

A few funny things that she said today...

"you are cool mom"
(she said this because our hair was the same, in pony tails)

"You are my favorite mom"
(she will often say this to Zach I was surprised she said it to me today)

"These socks are naughty"
(She couldn't get her socks on her feet by herself)

"I helped you kiss daddy"
(When Zach was home for lunch she pushed our heads together to make us kiss, it was cute!)

"I'm shaking my booty"
(Watching the goofy movie and the song 'shake your groove thing' was playing)

14 weeks and 5 days...

As I am looking back at the blog and all the things I posted about Brooklyn I am feeling a little guilty not having really mentioned baby #2. So today's post is all about baby!

It has been a little harder this pregnancy with all the nausea and vomiting but I must say it's fun to know that there is a little "gummy bear" growing inside me. Each doctor visit has been amazing, mostly because of the ultrasounds and being able to see how well the baby is doing. This next visit (March 11) we should be able to find out the sex! I am super excited to be able to start getting all the little things in order, boy or girl. I have had the crazy pregnant dreams from the very beginning. They range from people that I love dying to the baby being born (I won't tell you boy or girl) and seeing it's flaming red hair just like how Brooklyn's was. One thing that has been kind of hard for me is that I am already having to wear maternity clothes :( Don't get me wrong they can be cute, but only at the right time in the pregnancy. I just feel fat and not pregnant. I always thought those mom's who were on baby two, three, or four were silly for wearing maternity clothes so early on in the pregnancy but now that I am here on baby two I totally understand. I read on one of my pregnancy info websites that it can be normal to have to start wearing them earlier than your first pregnancy. i think i was close to 20 weeks with Brooklyn when i had to wear them, oh well I guess it's all about comfort this go round! I really haven't had any cravings this pregnancy, in fact I have been lucky to have an appetite at all. I mostly eat toast in the morning to help settle my tummy (along with a Zofran, a pregnant woman's best friend) and then in the evenings whatever I can manage to choke down. Meat is definitely off the menu for now though, sorry dad, one day I will be able to eat your fabulous steaks again.

Well, I gotta get Zach off to work and play play-dough with Brooklyn! Have a good day!

On Friday night I decided to start catching up on my stack of Parent's magazines that had yet to be opened when Brooklyn decicded she wanted to get in the tub. I thought that would be perfect, she can play in the tub while I read how to discipline her, how to take care of her teeth, when to take her to the doctor, etc. I got her in and got all of her toys in with her and she started playing. A little while later she asked for a wash cloth and I gave her one and told her to start getting her hair wet because it needed to be washed (she will usually use the cloth to wet her hair down). I went back to reading and she went back to playing. The next time I looked up her hair was wet, yay Brooklyn for listeneing to me! Then all of a sudden I could smell the strong smell of coconut, which just so happened to be the 'flavor' of brand new shampoo she had. I looked up and I saw the bottle sitting on the side of the tub, but not where I had left it last. I got up and looked and she had used the ENTIRE 12 ounces of shampoo! The water was discolored, there were bubbles, and she was so slippery I couldn't even pick her up. I drained the tub and tried to rinse it out, then I gave up and got her in the shower. The good thing I guess is she really listened to me and washed her hair, the problem is she used so much soap it took forever to rinse out and we were both miserable. SO much for catching up on my magazine and so much for a relaxing bath before bedtime!!

Lip Wound (two days after)...

I didn't get any pictures of it when it first happened but this is two days from when she fell of the bar stool. It was a lot more swollen before these pictures.

This is the inside of her lip, it looks a lot like a canker (don't know if I spelled it right).

This is the outside "scratch"

The only way I could get those pictures was to wait til she was sleeping....

Valentine's Day and The ER

What a Valentine's Day yesterday! It had both good and bad things happen...

When I woke up Zach made breakfast (heart shaped pancakes) and he even cleaned up after himself. In fact, he cleaned the entire upstairs minus our bedroom and even started laundry and got it sorted for me! What a man! He even let me shower by myself, by that I mean he took care of Brooklyn and kept her distracted so I could shower! He truly treated me like a princess, I love him TONS! (Oh and did I mention that he had flowers delivered to me at work on Friday? He is so sweet!) He also took me shopping on Saturday and got me some more maternity clothes, I don't know what I wore when I was prego with Brooklyn but I have been struggling to want to leave the house because my wardrobe is so limited. Oh and he bought me new shoes! We had an awesome Valentine weekend :O)

Valentine's Day ended kind of bad though :( We were sitting at my mom's house and she was just about to make us some yummy scones and boom... Brooklyn fell off the bar stool! She hit directly on her little chin and her tooth went in her lip. It was bleeding so badly in and out I thought for sure that her tooth had gone all the way through so I flipped and we ran to the ER. Good thing I have buddies there that could calm me down and look her over. It ended up that she didn't need stitches and that her had not gone through, but she did scratch the outside of her chin and it was bleeding. Jeff (the PA that was there) is one of my favorites and assured us that she was going to be ok. He told us to wake her once in the night to make sure she didn't have a serious concussion and make sure she was eating well (in case she hurt her jaw). He look at her pupils, checked her teeth to make sure they were all intact and not loose. The nurses were good too (thanks Jill and Lisa!) they cleaned her up and Kalli (clerk) got her a stuffed animal to love on to help calm her down. I felt bad because she kept saying "I just need to go home." All in all it was a good/mild first ER experience and I am glad things turned out ok. Now we just have to wait for her poor little fat lip to go down and her chin not to be bruised.

I will hopefully get some pictures on here tomorrow or Wednesday...

Happy Early Valentine's...

So usually when I am at work Zach will bring Brooklyn in so that I can fix her hair before she goes to grandma's. Today he brought her in just to say hi because he already had fixed her hair (way to go!). I thought something fishy was going on because Brooklyn asked me,
"Mommy, do you like flowers?"
Me: What?
Mommy: you like flowers (as she is shaking her head up and down)
Me: Huh?
Zach: She is asking you if you like sour candy, we bought some this morning.
Me: Oh, why didn't she say candy?
Zach: I dunno

So then a few hours later....

The local flower shows up with a few roses and a teddy bear for me! I was thrilled!

Lol, later I told Zach thanks for the flowers, and I like flowers more than sour candy! I guess Brooklyn isn't the greatest at keeping secrets :o)

Water Colors...

So our project for the last few weeks has been repainting our front room and Brooklyn has been more than willing to help. I decided that we should get her some water colors to keep her occupied while we were finishing painting the trim and it kept her more than occupied. We have had the water colors for two days and half the colors are gone because she has painted so much. She told us her favorite color is the black one. I think it is probably because it's the darkest and shows up the best. Anyways...enjoy the pics and hopefully I will get some pictures of the freshly painted front room on here shortly!

How to eat breakfast for dinner...

1. Make french toast
2. Cut into strips with pizza cutter
3. Put on plate with a pool of syrup
4. Dip strips in syrup and eat!

If that doesn't work....
lick the syrup, no french toast necessary

Just be sure to have milk to wash it down with!

Brush...

Brooklyn: Mom, I gotta brush my teeth with sponge bob
Me: Ok, can I help you get the toothpaste
B: Yeah
(I get the toothpaste on her brush and she tarts brushing/sucking off all the toothpaste)
Me: Keep brushing so your teeth get really clean
(She stops brushing abruptly and gives me this wrinkled up nose look)
B: Mom, you need to brush your teeth, you are stinky!

*Even two year old's know bad breath??

January Catch Up...

SO I have been one slacker of a blogger lately and decided I need to start catching up, so here is a little bit about what all happened in January.

Most of you know we announced that we are having another baby that is due in August. It was so exciting but scary to find out we were pregnant. I had a miscarriage this last year and I was so scared that it was going to happen again. The more nauseated I was the more sure I was that this baby was for real. I think after having had the miscarriage I was still really nervous until we were able to go to the doctor and find out that everything really was ok. We have decided to go down to Ogden to Dr. Housel and we will most likely be delivering at McKay Dee. I love his office but the wait times could become a problem. It was so cool to have an ultrasound done on our first visit and to be able to hear the babies heart beat (168 bpm). His office even gives you a DVD that you take each visit and they put the ultrasounds on it! Cool, huh?

I started a new shift at work this month. I'm still working 12 hour shifts but instead of being gone until midnight each night, I leave work at 9pm. It's been good to be able to get to bed a little bit earlier but Brooklyn is still having a hard time adjusting. She wants to wait up for her daddy (which has been anywhere from midnight to 3am, 7 days a week!) and then she wants to sleep in until noon. Oh well I guess, at least for now. I love watching her sleep, especially when she has crazy hair and is drooling everywhere :O)

Brooklyn has also started to love dressing up. That's the first thing she wants to do when she gets up and says, "mom can I get all dressed up?" It's so cute. She has particularly enjoyed her tutu that she got from her Aunt Jamie for her birthday, and weirdly her bike helmet! At least she is being safe?

Up until recently Brooklyn has been such a good eater. She would try anything at any time. This month it seems as if she has started to pick and choose what she thinks looks good. She will still eat any kind of pasta (sans the sauce). She loves fruit, except pears, "mommy I don't want pears, I want apple." She has also become quite fond of oreos, but mostly just the insides.

Well she has been saying this for a while but I'm just getting around to sharing it...

"TIWI is my best frend"

She loves that dog more than anyone else and lets us know on a daily basis. This partiular night she was hiding under the bed with Kiwi. It was a little scary becasue there isn't much room under our bed but she made it work. Kiwi doesn't alsways love Brooklyn but she tolerates her well these days. (you can see Kiwi in the right of the pic)

Our house is slowly coming together. This month our project has been getting the front room put together. We started painting and that's about as far as we've gotten...I'll get pictures on here when it's finished.

Over all January has been a good month...let's hope that it continues through the year!!!
