Pancakes

A while back I was watching Rachael Ray's show and they had this guy on there who makes pancake for his daughter, and they were so cool. He made flowers in flower pots, her name, etc. So he showed how to do it and I decided to try it night before last for dinner.

Basically you make your pancake batter but make it a little thinner, add food coloring, put it in one of those bottles that they used to have in grade school that hold ketchup and mustard. Then you draw on your griddle. It was quite fun, but my pancakes didn't turn out as fancy or as cute as they were on the show. Oh well... Brooklyn still loved it!

"B O" didn't make a K or a Y because I knew she wouldn't eat them

Oh Boky...

She is three, but she acts much older. She has been saying and doing some of the funniest things...

When she gets mad she tells us that she is going to tell on us. We ask who she is gonna tell and she usually says her other parents.

She bonked her head two days ago and after I got her calmed down I asked her if she was ok, her reply was, "I'm ok, my brain just got shaked."

She asked Zach the other day while she was in the bathroom, "Can you hear my pee noise? Its gross dad it sounds like pee and it stinks."

Zach was listening to his music and she told him that his music messes up her style.

I got a text from Zach the other day. It read "I was being dead and she grabbed me by my ears and headbutted me under my eye. Good news, I will never be dead again!"

Dora was telling Boky "Help me jump, crouch lower." Brooklyn's reply was "Stupid Dora, I can't go any lower because I'm not a real frog!"

She keeps doing "nastics" (gymnastics) on my bed and a couple nights ago we were sharing a cinnamon roll on a plate on my bed. She wasn't paying attention and scooted back to far and did a back flip off the bed onto her face.

When we are driving in the car she always says, "Mom, play MY song now." which means I get to listen to Katy Perry's "California Gurls" a million times.

She has learned how to do her splits and likes to show EVERYONE. Thanks aunt Jade for showing her how.

She is becoming quite the artist! She can do hearts and the letter B (they look identical) her big thing right now is drawing jelly fishes.

She has obviously watched too much Sponge Bob because now she calls hamburgers Krabby Patties.

Reading...

I don't know if I am just really tired (because Tessa has not been sleeping) or if Brooklyn is truely getting funnier by the minute but I had to share...

We were reading books tonight and she had some of the funniest comments.

This book is called "Wild Animals." It's a touch and feel book and has 5 different animals in it. When we got to this page she said, "Mom, I am scared of snakes!" She had her eyes covered and then all of a sudden she uncovers them and says "but Dad will help me chop of their heads. I'm not scared anymore."

This book is called "Itsy Bitsy Spider." It's a cute book but she lost interest in it because the pictures aren't all that complex. When we got to this page however she piped up and said "He has the crazy eyes Mom."

This book is called "How Do I Love You?" On this page she was all excited about the moon. She loves the moon and calls it "my moon" when we see it at night.

First thing she asked on this page was "why does he have a flower on his pee pee?" I didn't know what to say so I moved on to the next page.

She was upset on this page because the baby ruined the slippers and...

when we got to this page she said something like "He is just going to ruin that hat Mom, they should take it away."

This was the last book we read and she told me "That puppy looks like Heidi." Heidi is Great-Grandma Pam and Great Grandpa Jimmy's dog who we recently dog sat.

baking cupcakes!!!

Brooklyn has really taken a liking to cooking/baking lately and I have tried to keep her entertained with it. I figure it's better for her to be licking beaters than to be watching TV all day, which is what she prefers most days.

Yummy beaters!!!

Things I have learned in the last 24 hours...

* I should indeed be concerned when every diaper I am changing isn't poopy. Why? Because that means when the poo does come, it's coming full force. I am talking all the way up to the armpits, on the blanket, and between big sister's toes.

*No matter how good a child has been with play dough, silly putty, or flarp in the past, does not make them constantly worthy of playing with it. Chances are it may still end up in their hair, all over their not-so-cheap outfit, and on the couch.

*The dog that eats the most vegetables and "earthy" things will leave your grass looking dark and luscious after you scoop his poop.

*No matter how many times you take a child potty in a thirty minute time period it is still possible for them to have an accident, especially when you are not at home.

*Although your child's "cool trick" may be completely disgusting (drinking a little and then spitting the rest back into the cup), it can distract them long enough to trim their embarrassingly long toe and finger nails.

*Children like to make their parent's exercise. For example: I am getting Brooklyn in the car and she runs to the other side before I can buckle her in. She says, "This is how you exercise, because you are a mommy!" As I try pulling her to the driver;s side and kindly shoving her into her seat.

*Mom's probably shouldn't wear black shirts or forget a burp pad after feeding a "starving" baby.

Slip n Slide

Brooklyn got a slip n slide and we tried it out at Grandma's house. She didn't quite get the hang of it so Zach helped her out a few times. Everyone had fun, even Gunner tried to play on it....

Trampoline, Sprinkler, and Sandbox Fun

It was so nice to have warm weather this past weekend and Brooklyn and I took full advantage on Saturday. Zach and I finally got her sandbox put together and she loved it. The only bad part is that the sand sticks to her REALLY good and it's hard to get off especially when she has been running through the sprinkler. When I put the sprinkler on for her she figured out she could "stop it" by putting her foot over it, however, she didn't realize that the pressure would build up and cause a big burst of water to come out. It shocked her the first time she did it but then she loved it. We also figured that she would enjoy her trampoline better if it was outside, so I put that out with her in the backyard and she jumped til she was dry. It was a fun day!

The things she says...

I don't want to forget all the cute and funny things that Brooklyn says so I am documenting them here... (in hopes that one day I will publish this blog into a book of course)

She told me, "Momma, you look like a princess!"
I found this extremely funny because it was a day that I got up showered and threw some sweats on. I didn't do my hair or make up or much of anything else. She is so sweet!

She has been calling cantaloupe her "froot loops."
One morning I woke up with her and asked what she wanted for breakfast, she told me froot loops, so I poured her a bowl of cereal. When I sat it down in front of her at the table she scowled at me and said "that's not froot loops!" She took me over to the fridge and pulled out the cantaloupe and told me "this is froot loops." Silly girl.

She has also been quite the poop scout. We have had an extra doggy here for a little while and so whenever we go out back the first thing she does is point out all the poop so I can pick it up. I know it's kind of a gross thing to point out but I think it's funny. She says to me on one afternoon, "I am gonna have a cow, look at all this poop!"

She has also started to realize that Grandma's house is also Jade's house. So when she wants to play she will tell me, "I want to go to Jade-o's house today." I love that she uses Jade-o and Jaders, because those are my nick names for Jade.

She cracks me up...

Lat night on our way home Brooklyn broke out into tears. When I asked her what was wrong she said

"Kiwi is going to crack like an egg!"

and she kept on crying. I felt so bad and reassured her that Kiwi would be fine and that she was at home waiting for us to get there to let her out to go potty. She stopped crying for a minute and then about a mile later she was crying again. This time her response was

"Daddy and Jaders are going to crack too!"

She continued to sab til we got home and she saw Kiwi.

Oh boy, she is funny. I think she may have gotten the "cracking" part from all the egg stuff that has been going on with Easter. What a girl!

A bad case of the "terrible two's"

Wow, what a day. Just to clarify I do take some credit for Brooklyn's bad attitude and the things I am about to tell you. I made an early appointment and had to wake her up, plus she didn't get a decent nap today.

When we woke her up this morning Zach was trying to get her dressed. The conversation went a lot like this....

Z: Ok let's get your jammies off so we can get ready to go
B:DON'T TOUCH ME
Z:We have to get ready though.
B:GET OUT OF MY ROOM
Z: Can I have a hug first?
B: YES
and then he walked out to apease her.

Later in the day after Zach went to work we were headed over to my mom's house to visit (Rach and Esi were there) and she had a complete come apart about leaving the house. I couldn't even get her jacket or shoes on. She kept screaming, "LET ME GO!" So I grabbed her and all of her stuff and took her to the car with out her shoes on, with out a jacket, and with all neighbors wondering if I was going to beat her. I get her in the car and she hit me! I was so mad, but I kept my cool and explained that she will not hit me and I swatted her bottom (with no aparent affect).

At five o'clock Jamie had her science fair and asked us to come and see her project/board. So we packed up and got ready to leave. Jade rode with us but when Brooklyn saw that Esi got to ride with grandma she had another melt down. I was actually kind of sad for her because she didn't understand that we were all going to the same place and that it was ok. She was literally sobbing. That's when Jade interfered to tell her it was ok, and Brooklyn smacked her.

Then we get to the science fair and holy crow it was SOOOOOOO loud. We went and saw Jamie's board and a few of her friend's and Brooklyn and I booked it out to the commons area to wait. While we were sitting out there Brooklyn made a friend. I'm not trying to be judgemental but this little girl was weird. She had pony tails all over her head, her clothes didn't match, she was wearing snow boots, and to top it off her mother completely ignored her so she was in my face (seriouly 3 inches away) everytime she had something to say. Oh and to top it off she was six years old and Brooklyn is two. So they played for about 40 minutes while we waited with my mom for jamie to be done. Brooklyn even introduced her to me it went a little like this...
B: (talking to this girl) This is my momma
Me: Hi
B: momma this is Autumn
and they ran off with each other.
When it was time to leave Brooklyn threw the WORST fit I have ever witnessed in my life. Back arched, hand flying, and mouth open with terrible screeches coming out. So I gave in, bad idea, and let her have 5 more minutes. Again we told Autumn good bye and I grabbed her and started to say good bye to everyone. She was being so naughty that I asked her if she wanted to go live with Rachel and she said, "yes, where is she?" Can you believe it?? I was shocked.
Anyways.... We were headed to the car and she was still flailing her arms and legs and arching her back and all and embarrassing the crap out of me when I hear, "Brittany?"
Great, some one identified me with my stinker of a two year old... Then I realized it was a co worker who has six kids of her own and could totally relate. She assured me it was not the worst fit she had ever seen and that she too had recently been humiliated by her three year old.
I wanted to cry.
I hate these hormones!
We made it to the car and two minutes after I strapped her in she was asleep.

Oh boy what a terrible two day! Good thing she is cute or I would seriously consider sending her back with the stork when he brings the new baby!

Good Weekend...

Just a note this is a journal type entry, feel free to skip it :O)

So I started this post once, but I lost it somehow... so hear it goes again...

This weekend was a super one! Nothing too special happened but it was so nice. Friday started out with me going to work (not my fave) but it was a pretty good day, nothing deadly. Then when I got off and went to get Brooklyn my grandparents were at my mom's, and they even waited up to see me!! We don't make it up there enough to see them so I am glad they are willing to make the drive down occasionaly. It was super good to see them. Also I must mention my Auntie Laurie had a birthday! Happy birthday to her! She was so good to share it with us. She even let Brooklyn help her make a cake on friday night (now Brooklyn wants the beaters all the time).

After we left mom's we ended up at one of Zach's friend's house (Matt and Kassie). Brookyln was tired but super thrilled because they have kitties (they are really 2 or 3 years old and pretty chunky). Matt even went above and beyond and got ehr a laser pointer to play with the kitties, it was funny watcihng her trying to use it and them trying to chase it.

Saturday we woke up early (especially after our late night) and headed back over to my mom's to try and get a few more hours in with Grandpa and Grandma Hodges and Aunt Laurie. We walked in to hot pancakes! Yummy. After they left Jade begged us to take her up to kings, and Zach can't say no so away we went... We ended up spending 10$ on a new Zhu Zhu Pet, but hey Brookyln is happy! Jade also bought another Zhu Zhu. If you haven't seen them take a look, they are pretty cool little creatures. I will post a video of Brooklyn with hers, she is so funny about it.

After that we came home and napped and it was wonderful! I love when me and Brooklyn can nap together. It gives me hope that when this next baby comes we will still get a little rest. Speaking of the baby, we get to find out on Thursday what sex it is! Can you believe it? It has flown by for me. I am excited to know so we can get things prepared and ge stuff arranged. Yay :O)

Sunday we rested a lot! We must ahve all needed to catch up on sleep or something because we normally don't nap everyday. We also played Lego's and went to McDonald's and played (I know). It was good to just spend time with my own little family, we don't do it often enough. Zach and I want to start doing date night at least every other week and I totally think we need to get in the habit before baby 2 is here.

Zach has been so good to me lately. I don't know if I am just realizing it more or if he is trying harder but I LOVE it, and him even more!

Things he has done that impress me...

Dishes. Every day before he leaves the house he doesn the dishes.

Garbages. He has been so good about staying on top of the garbages. It's nobody's favorite job around here but he has been taking all the trash out before I even get a chance to ask him.

Laundry. Sunday he did all the laundry for me. It didn't all make it on hangers or in drawers but hey it's clean and wearable.

Hair. He has been helping with Brooklyn's hair so that they don't have to make special trips to my work everyday, and I must say he is doing a pretty good job.

Last but not least he has treated me like a princess every day even when I am acting like a dragon! I love him soooo much!

Why a day at home isn't a day off...

I am exhausted even more so today than on a work day, after all a mom never gets a day off, right? I got up and before I even showered I started cleaning. Even though I got an early start, it never got done. I vacuumed and swept the upstairs floors, wiped the counters at least three times, did dishes twice, changed 4 loads of laundry (which makes a ton of trips up and down the stairs), changed my sheets, put covers on Brooklyn's bed, watched a few toonies with Boky, shoveled the driveway, bathed Brooklyn twice, made dinner, and now I am here blogging! I did manage to get a few fun pictures of Brooklyn today. She is such a character. Her latest favorite outfit is her birthday suit... don't mind the pictures (not only is she in the nude, but they aren't in order because I'm too lazy to put them that way.)

She was "hiding" by the fridge

AH! She found me hiding in the kitchen...

She is super fast at running away from me when I want her to smile for the camera.

She had to wear "daddy's hat"

This is her "diaper bag" I guess she doesn't understand it's a back pack yet.

The cheesiest picture of the day!

A few funny things that she said today...

"you are cool mom"
(she said this because our hair was the same, in pony tails)

"You are my favorite mom"
(she will often say this to Zach I was surprised she said it to me today)

"These socks are naughty"
(She couldn't get her socks on her feet by herself)

"I helped you kiss daddy"
(When Zach was home for lunch she pushed our heads together to make us kiss, it was cute!)

"I'm shaking my booty"
(Watching the goofy movie and the song 'shake your groove thing' was playing)

Brush...

Brooklyn: Mom, I gotta brush my teeth with sponge bob
Me: Ok, can I help you get the toothpaste
B: Yeah
(I get the toothpaste on her brush and she tarts brushing/sucking off all the toothpaste)
Me: Keep brushing so your teeth get really clean
(She stops brushing abruptly and gives me this wrinkled up nose look)
B: Mom, you need to brush your teeth, you are stinky!

*Even two year old's know bad breath??

Do as I'm doing...but don't repeat!!

[Brooklyn in my bed watching a movie, me in the front room blogging.
Brooklyn runs into the front room and grabs my hand]

Brooklyn: Mommy, mommy come help me
Me: What's the matter?

[Brooklyn drags me into the bedroom]

Brooklyn: fix it, fix it mommy

[The movie is between previews and the screen is black. 3 seconds later it goes back to another preview]

Me: Oh look it's fixed
Brooklyn: Damn it

Moral of the story: She does listen to me more than I think she does.

ARG Matey's!

Yo Ho Yo Ho a pirate's life for BOKY!

Let me explain...
On July 17th we went to the Jimmy and Pam Howard Family Reunion and I won this cute little bandanna and eye patch from the bubble gum blowing contest (Stefie and I actually tied). I Love the bandanna, however it is a little small for my large head so I gave it to Brooklyn after we got home. She LOVES it! This is the only picture I got of her though and I know it's not a great one but she wasdancing around and having fun (and I won't lie she HATES the eye patch).
