And the Winner is...

There is a Chritmas coloring contest tradition in our town, I'm not sure if other places do it, but Brooklyn participated this year and WON! She was the winner for the 0-4 age group at Rudd's Funeral Home. She had fun coloring and turning in all the picture at different merchants around town. We went and had her picture taken with a big group of kids to be put in the paper and later went and got a prize at Rudd's. They gave her a Dora Snuggy and chocolate.

Trip to the Dentist

Oh the pain! Not for Brooklyn but for me and for Zach.

Brooklyn had to have 4 fillings (one cavity was between two teeth) and a crown. We chose to go to a pediatric dentist after we tried the regular dentist and failed. We went to "Dr. Doug" in Logan a month ago and he took a look and told us the damages. We had to call back and make an appointment and pay everything up front (lovely to spend hundreds of dollars on teeth right before Christmas). So on December16th we headed over to Logan with Brooklyn in hopes it wouldn't take long.

The first thing they do is go over the process and tell you what to expect and see if you have any questions. They they gave her medicine (versed and ketamine) nasally and wait for it to take affect. She was so loopy that it kind of made me sad/sick. I hate that feeling of not knowing what was going on with her little mind. She was reaching for things and poking at things in the air that weren't really there, creepy.

After the medicine was working they put her on a papoose board and start working on her teeth. She would laugh and say "that tickles!" And a few minutes later she would be screaming that it hurt. It was too much for me to handle so Zach took me to the waiting room. When she was finished they came and got us and we had to go wait for her to come out of it and get her oxygen saturation up. She was on oxygen for about a half hour and then she was doing better.

After spending 2 hours at the office, the dental assistant or hygienist, whichever she was, actually helped us get Brooklyn into the car and make sure that she was going to be ok to head home. She passed and we headed home with a sleepy Boky.

Now after it's all done she will gladly show you her "golden tooth" (it's actually silver :)

Grandpa time

I have to say my Dad is so good with kids. It's no wonder why he ended up with all girls, he loves them! This was on mom's birthday and Esi wanted him to read to her. Eventually Boky hopped in and listened to him read too. Thanks Dad for always being so patient and for loving mine and Rachel's babies!

She's so funny...

Conversation 1:
B: "Mom, did you know that Kiwi loves her brother?"
Me: "Who is her brother?"
B: "Gunner is her brother. She wants to share his bone with him, that's why she barks at him. But she loves him."

Conversation 2:
(We are sitting in the kitchen cleaning up and getting ready to make dinner when she spots the fly swatter)

B: "Mommy, when we have flies we whack 'em with the whacker for flies"
Me: "Yep, we do"
B: "Yeah, then they die"

Conversation 3:
(I am trying to make dinner and Gunner is under my feet)

Me: "Gunner! I am sick of you!"
B: "I have money to buy him out of here so he won't bug you."

Side Note:
Brooklyn hates it when Tessa cries. Her latest thing is putting her hands over her ears and yelling Tessa be quiet!

My Girls...

This cute little 3 year old is so fun! She is starting to become even more opinionated and it's hilarious. I love hearing her view on things. Its amazing how much she knows and how much she picks up on, actually kind of scary sometimes. She recently has changed her favorite color to purple. She also had her first dentist appointments and did quite well. She is such a girly girl. She LOVES her lip gloss and will plaster it on anyone that she can get to sit still.

I can hardly believe my baby is already 4 months. She is so fun, and keeps us busy. She is really starting to "talk" and loves to be talked to. She smiles everytime you look at her or talk to her. She is reaching for things and loves to suck on whatever she can get in her mouth. Her schedule is still all over the place but for the most part she sleeps well. She currently enjoys t=sitting in the bumbo, sleeping in the swing, and splashing away in the tub.

The big 42!

Happy 42nd to my wonderful Mommy!

I can't believe my mom is 42!
A few things I love about my mom...
She is my best girlfriend
She can read my mind
I can always rely on her for advice, and she isn't offended if I don't take it.
She enjoys growing older and wiser
She is not vain
She loves my kids
She is always just a phone call away
I can trust her
She keeps secrets
She is frugal
She is spiritual (and encourages me to be)
She gets smarter the older I get

I love you Mom!

(Sorry the pic isn't that great, it's from my phone because I forgot my camera)

Celebrating with The Groves

This year we decided to combine our celebration for Thanksgiving and Christmas with Zach's family. It worked out the best with all our crazy schedules and travel considerations. We had a pretty good visit other than I was sick, Gunner wasn't feeling good, and everyone had to leave fairly early Sunday evening. All in all it was a fun visit and we were glad that we got to visit.

Modeling the outfit her grandparents gave her.

Tessa's Santa Hat on Boky's head. Too funny.

Chubby wubby Tessa with her santa hat on. I love it!

Carving the turkey. (This is the second time I have cooked a turkey and I must say it turned out awesome.)

*The pictures are not chronological, sorry!

Letter from Santa

Brooklyn got a letter from the North Pole! (Santa to be exact)

A few thoughts

Most of my posts lately have been pictureless, and I apologize. I just have more to say lately. so suck it up and read, or don't, it doesn't matter either way.

Just because you treat others how you want to be treated doesn't mean they will do the same. Just remember that you are the bigger person when this happens.

I have decided that being 'poor' is a blessing in a way. It helps you keep the word of wisdom (don't worry I am not into drugs or anything horrible, I just like my coffee). When I don't have the money for coffee I can't justify buying it. Perhaps this is god's way of telling me to quit it, I need my hearing tuned a little better perhaps.

Embarrassing moments happen more than you think, so be careful. You probably shouldn't be texting about bodily functions (like nursing) because it might just end up going to your co worker and not your sister. Its a darn good thing this particular coworker isn't shy like myself and has a good sense of humor. Geesh. You also shouldn't try chasing your dog when you are mad at it. Your dog may sabotage you and spill its entire bowl full of dog food, causing the 'marble affect' (like in all the movies how they run and run and run but stay in the same spot or fall, yep I fell) I think that Kiwi just wanted to put a show on for Zach, seeming how it was our only 30 minutes together for the day, she had to make it interesting.

No matter how old you are, be proud. You earned those numbers. Be thankful you have made that far in life. who cares about the wrinkles, extra weight, bottles of medication, dentures, walkers, etc.

Stya close to your parents, they will always love you.

On a side note.... Brooklyn won a coloring contest! She is amazing at coloring and drawing and this just proves I'm not just biased, she really is good. I think her picture will be in the paper, I will be sure to let you all know!

That's all Folks!!!

P.S. If I ever have typos or have mispelled something please send me a separate comment so I can fix it, that's embarrassing.

Juggling Act

Brooklyn and I have been listening to a children's CD. It has random songs, some I have never even heard of before. One song about the circus must have stuck in her head.... here's what she said to Zach today....

"Dad, if I juggle balls will I be allowed to join the circus? Did you know that makes clowns my best friends?"

She then proceeded to show Zach how she juggles. She put peas in her mouth and moved them around with her tongue.

Oh my word where does she get this from?

Odd Ball things,,,

Just a few things that are on my mind.

I found myself feeling weird the other day when some one asked my maiden name. It kind of made me feel old. I guess I still feel like I am 20. It is refreshing though that I finally feel out of highschool, what a nightmare.

I felt dumb the other day when I was in a meeting and some one asked where I went to school. I replied "Bear River." THey looked at me and said oh that's right, you're not a nurse, you didn't go to school. What is with the assumption that if you work at a hospital you have to be a nurse? There is A LOT more to hospital than nursing staff. Don't get me wrong, nurses are probably considered the work horses of the system, but there are others that work there too.

Brooklyn has been calling me "Old Woman."

I got a generous comment from a coworker today, made my day. She said she couldn't believe how responsible I am and all the things that I do at work. She said she looks at her 23 year old and knows that it will be a while before he is as 'accomplished' as I am. (Well something to that effect) Made me walk with a little more confidence.

Zach and I have been married for 4.5 years.

I've been sleeping so deep I don't remember Zach getting home at night, don't wake up to crying children, and can stay in one spot all night. It kind of scares me. Zach has mentioned he hopes we don't hae a fire when I'm home alone with the kids, and I agree, we would probably all burn.

I have been having headaches. I know I should probably go to the doctor, but I know he will just say I'm fine so why waste the time and money? I think I tend to freak out over the little things after working in the ER for so long. Afterall, only scary and bads things tend to stick out, right?

I don't feel tired tonight, which is weird for me.

I miss my sister. I wish we were closer and talked more.

I want to visit my grandparents. I feel like I don't visit nearly often enough. Boy would I feel guilty if anything ever happened to one of them.

la di da di da.....
