Sickness at the Grove house...

It all started with one pink eye...
now we have 4 pink eyes, two nasty coughs, 4 tired grove's, 2 bottle's of tylenol (one infant and one children's), 2 bottles of ibuprofen, 1 bottle robitussin, one bottle of eye drops for the 4 pink eyes, a humidifier, and two missed days of work.

I must say that through all of this Zach has been amazing! While I on the other hand have been a beastie! He took them to the doctor all by himself yesterday and went and filled the Rx. He took the day off so that I could finish working and finish up a project at my mom's. He rented movies for Boky and bought chocolate to help me cope.

Last night was less than awesome. I fell asleep early (9pm) and was awakened by coughing, snotty, sad kiddlette's at 2am. I stayed up with TJ til 6am and then finally just passed out on the couch with her on my chest and Boky laying right next to me. I know Zach didn't sleep well either but I closed the bedroom door so he could at least try to catch some ZZZ's.

Zach headed to work today and I took the day off. I can't believe he did this all day yesterday, it's 15:44 and I have all but fallen completely apart. I haven't even showered yet :(

Zach gets the MAN OF THE YEAR award just for yesterday, he is totally amazing with the girls and I don't know how he does it. Love you babe!

TJ's Stats...

We took Tessa for her 4 month check up (we are a few weeks late) today and she is doing very well! For length she is in the 73rd percentile (weighing in at 16 lbs 4 ounces)and for weight she in the 82nd percentile (measuring 25 1/2 inches). Her head circumference is 16.7 inches which puts her in the 75th percentile. She is pretty average in size I guess, which is good because I was worried she was over weight ;) The doctor laughed when he saw her chubby little thighs and said not to worry about her spit up problem because she obviously not starving. He did say we can try cereal but not to be surprised if she isn't ready because babies have a reflex in their tongue that makes them push everything out of their mouth until they get a little closer to 6 months. He told me to possibly add some vereal to her bottles to help her not spit up so much and to burp her more often. Its hard to believe that this little girl has been in our lives for almost 5 months. She is such a blessing and a joy!

Trip to the Dentist

Oh the pain! Not for Brooklyn but for me and for Zach.

Brooklyn had to have 4 fillings (one cavity was between two teeth) and a crown. We chose to go to a pediatric dentist after we tried the regular dentist and failed. We went to "Dr. Doug" in Logan a month ago and he took a look and told us the damages. We had to call back and make an appointment and pay everything up front (lovely to spend hundreds of dollars on teeth right before Christmas). So on December16th we headed over to Logan with Brooklyn in hopes it wouldn't take long.

The first thing they do is go over the process and tell you what to expect and see if you have any questions. They they gave her medicine (versed and ketamine) nasally and wait for it to take affect. She was so loopy that it kind of made me sad/sick. I hate that feeling of not knowing what was going on with her little mind. She was reaching for things and poking at things in the air that weren't really there, creepy.

After the medicine was working they put her on a papoose board and start working on her teeth. She would laugh and say "that tickles!" And a few minutes later she would be screaming that it hurt. It was too much for me to handle so Zach took me to the waiting room. When she was finished they came and got us and we had to go wait for her to come out of it and get her oxygen saturation up. She was on oxygen for about a half hour and then she was doing better.

After spending 2 hours at the office, the dental assistant or hygienist, whichever she was, actually helped us get Brooklyn into the car and make sure that she was going to be ok to head home. She passed and we headed home with a sleepy Boky.

Now after it's all done she will gladly show you her "golden tooth" (it's actually silver :)

29 weeks....

Well today we had another doctor appointment and everything went well. The baby is measuring where she should be (the doctor said she weighs about 2lbs and 5oz) and we are still set for August 18th. The doctor told me to keep on taking iron supplements and to increase the amount I have been taking, yuck. The best part about our visit today was that Brooklyn was actually interested in watching the ultrasound and would point things out that she could see. At one point baby sister had her head turned and so all we could see was her ear and Brooklyn picked up on it really fast. She also identified baby sister's nose. The doctor said (when he was measuring her head) that it looks like this baby will also have a bunch of hair when she is born. So weird the things we can see with these 3D ultrasounds, I love it.

Official Ultrasound...

Just some interesting facts about our "Target Ultrasound" that we had today...

  • Yes, it's still a girl ;)
  • She weighs approximately 12 oz
  • We got to "see" all 4 chambers of her heart
  • The technician said that her brain looks wonderful and her head is nice and round
  • She had an air bubble in her tummy (the technician said that means she must be swallowing the amniotic fluid. According to my parent magazine this is a good thing because it helps to start developing their digestive tract.)
  • She is measuring a little bit small which means my due date might get pushed back a week
  • We got to see her tiny little feet and hands
  • She likes to keep her hands by her face (In most of the 3D pics her hand was flat on her forehead)
  • I think she looks a lot like Brooklyn so far!
It was a really good visit this time. It was so cool to see all the things we saw and get pictures of it all. It;s amazing how far along technology has come. I am very thankful that every thing checked out to be okay, I am a worrier. Can't wait until she's here!

Valentine's Day and The ER

What a Valentine's Day yesterday! It had both good and bad things happen...

When I woke up Zach made breakfast (heart shaped pancakes) and he even cleaned up after himself. In fact, he cleaned the entire upstairs minus our bedroom and even started laundry and got it sorted for me! What a man! He even let me shower by myself, by that I mean he took care of Brooklyn and kept her distracted so I could shower! He truly treated me like a princess, I love him TONS! (Oh and did I mention that he had flowers delivered to me at work on Friday? He is so sweet!) He also took me shopping on Saturday and got me some more maternity clothes, I don't know what I wore when I was prego with Brooklyn but I have been struggling to want to leave the house because my wardrobe is so limited. Oh and he bought me new shoes! We had an awesome Valentine weekend :O)

Valentine's Day ended kind of bad though :( We were sitting at my mom's house and she was just about to make us some yummy scones and boom... Brooklyn fell off the bar stool! She hit directly on her little chin and her tooth went in her lip. It was bleeding so badly in and out I thought for sure that her tooth had gone all the way through so I flipped and we ran to the ER. Good thing I have buddies there that could calm me down and look her over. It ended up that she didn't need stitches and that her had not gone through, but she did scratch the outside of her chin and it was bleeding. Jeff (the PA that was there) is one of my favorites and assured us that she was going to be ok. He told us to wake her once in the night to make sure she didn't have a serious concussion and make sure she was eating well (in case she hurt her jaw). He look at her pupils, checked her teeth to make sure they were all intact and not loose. The nurses were good too (thanks Jill and Lisa!) they cleaned her up and Kalli (clerk) got her a stuffed animal to love on to help calm her down. I felt bad because she kept saying "I just need to go home." All in all it was a good/mild first ER experience and I am glad things turned out ok. Now we just have to wait for her poor little fat lip to go down and her chin not to be bruised.

I will hopefully get some pictures on here tomorrow or Wednesday...

Brooklyn is 15 months old now and here are a few things she has been doing lately...

1- She finally got one of her top front teeth. It's the one on the right and she has been so drooley and so miserable trying to get the other one in. I think that it's starting affect her appetite. She hasn't been eating much, but she is downing the fluids.

2- She has figured out how to run away from us after tub time so she can stay naked, and I don't mind. I love seeing her little butt running down the hall. Today (picture to the left) I was getting ready to put her diaper on and she ran away and came back with her purse and her bracelets. She loves being in the nude!

3- She had a routine check up and we found that she has an ear infection in her right ear. So now we get to start another round of antibiotics. I hate it. She is very good at taking medicine but I hate remembering it 3 times a day for 10 days. Poor kid!!

4- She graduated to a big car seat. After her appointment today I feel a lot better about it because she really does weigh over 20 pounds (20.34). She is 31 inches tall and her head (I think) was about 42 centimeters around. She's getting big!!

5- She has been jumping out of her crib!! She has only done it like 2 or 3 times but it's a heart stopper. The first time she did it we had laid her down for bed after she was so tired she would scream about everything and we heard a bug thump... I credited it to our new noisy neighbors but decided that I should check on her because it had been 15 minutes of crying. I walked in and there she sat on her bedroom floor just staring at me! I picked her up and almost started to cry, knowing that the crib will be going away soon.

6- Her hair has grown long enough to pull it all up into two piggy tails. A few strands fall out, but it looks very cute, and very grown up on her.

Icky Ears...

So it's official, Boky has another ear infection!!! Both ears once again. They put her on a three day antibiotic and if this doesn't work we'll probably go see an ENT for tubes. This time has been the worst yet. She has had fevers, boogy nose/face, drooling, and VERY grouchy. We've got the humidifier going with some liquid vick's and that seems to help a ton at night. We also put a blanket under the mattress of the crib which seems to help a bit. I am hoping that by the time she ends her antibiotic tomorrow she will start feeling and acting like her normal self!

Oh one more thing...
Brooklyn turns 1 on the 7th of next month. We will be having two parties, one in Tremonton on that Friday (November 7th) and then one that following Saturday (November 8). Please RSVP. I don't have times yet but the planning is under way ;) either email me or comment on this post if you will be coming or not for cake and ice cream, THANKS!!

Slacker

Yep that's me, I'm a slacker. It's been almost a month since the zoo and I haven't got any pictures on here of it!!!! I guess my issue is that Zach took so many pictures I have to go through and pick ones out and that just adds time! Oh well. One day I'll get them on here.
So Brooklyn has another ear infection!! She had one 2 weeks ago and we got an anti biotic that was only a 3 day thing (it's supposed to have a longer half life than the regular one) but yesterday I noticed she was tugging on her ears. I took her back and sure enough another ear infection! This time we opted for the shot of Rocephin and are hoping that clears this up. Her little leg is sore but it's worth it because it works a lot faster. Poor Kid!! I felt bad when they gave it to her, the nurse said it's a really thick shot and so she will be sore for a few days.
On a happier note... I thought my CNA class went until the 17th but I guess I'm done September 10th! the bad thing is that I have a ton of studying to do to be ready for the final test and I have to hurry and squish in some clinicals :( I am already working full time and going to school 2 nights a week now I have to find 24 hours to do clinicals in the next two weeks... my life is insane.
Oh boy! I better go clean while Brooklyn is napping then it's off to work! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

Carrots!

We've found a teether that Brooklyn won't let go of. CARROTS! Zach gave her one when he came home for his first break and she wouldn't let go of it until I took it away at nap time. I think they are perfect for her because of their size. We give her the fat ones but they are just perfect for her little hand, and she can't chew through them.

On another note...

We took Brooklyn to see a surgeon today about her belly button (it has a hernia). He told us that it looks fine to him. He said to keep checking it and if it continues to grow then she'll have to have surgery. This was a relief. The NP we took her to said that it wouldn't fix itself but the surgeon assured us it's not as bad as it looks. He told us that if we're worried that it's growing to bring her back in a few weeks and he'll check her out again.

As he finished up with us Brooklyn started to be silly. She was squinting at him and smiling and waving bye bye. We were all laughing. She's a cutie.
